Well to start off the day at the game I left the house at around the 6am mark to make the 2 hour drive to the game for the day. The others, Bulldog,Donkey Kong, and JBird, drove over Friday night to stay at a hotel.
I arrived at about 8:10am and found there to be only one other team there Team Akitca setting up their stuff and pop up. I got the chance to meet Boomer fr om T.A. and talkk to him for a few minutes till the others arrived. Great guy to talk to and hang with as the others on the team were pretty easy going and like to have fun.
Once the other three arrived we got out the gear and put it under the popp up and got orginized for the game. The pait for the game was Cryptic, and Spank by Zapp. The Spank seemed top working the best for all that used it through out the day. The few to play was low 20.00 and the air all day was 15.00. There was a sure charge of 5.00 if you brought your own paint. I did bring the paint from the BHD game that was left over and some other bags from home. I did find that the after going through the 2000 rounds in the morning session that I needed more paint. I guess that is the result of being a heavy gunner for the team as we advanced in the morning session.
I also found out that the Stryker paint is not worth a darn from wallyworld in a Apex barrel. The Nelson and Spank worked great as did the Origin from BHD.
The morning objective had us starting at the very farside of the corn field that was leveled and open field for us to start on as the beach for the Allied troops. What made this kind of interesting to me is that we were able to get what they called the "tools" to use for us. What that meant to us was we could use a gas blower to blow up bunkers and move them with us for a wall build or just as protection form the Germans firing at us.
With the Germans at the wall of the beach we started to advance on their positions. The firefight began and the explosions began on the beach. Smoke was filling the air and the bombs going off over our head as we moved around on the beach. JBird and i went to the left flank as we could see movement coming in form the tree line from the Germans. We had a squad of about six on the left flank to hold off the 5 or six germans trying to flank out troops.
JBird and I hit them with the paint as much as we could with the flatlines and the Apex to supress them as the others moved froward. Two of the guys hit the cow tails near the creek and hunkered down to cover their movements. As they did that JBird and I tried to kleep their attention on us as we fired off rounds at them. It worked for awhile then we got noticed as to the plan. I radioed to Bulldog and DK that we were getting pushed on the left and we got the help with Bulldog coming over and supplying some resistance that we needed desperately.
We held them for some time as we kept getting more and more help coming over as the plan started to unfold to push them back and gain the left flank from them. It worked and then the troops started to puch straight up the middle as the left flank gave way also. The Germans were finally pushed off the flank and back into the woods.
Witht that being the point where we took a break got more paint and air to hit back on the field and push some more.
The afternoon session was great having BD and DK, JB as we took to the field. The Germans were to start back in the Forts and we had objectives to complete. Well them having the woods to start out in gave them somewhat a advantage IMO. We hit the woods and no sooner than us getting into the woods at about probably 30 yds in and BANG !! There they were just laying it on us as we get in there.
Our team Delta Squad break off and hit the right flank right away as we start to take fire from the right. After playing this game for four years now, I have learned when getting shot at hit the dirt and find cover. Well we did that and DK and BD went to the front on the ground. It was cool to watch them move to the front and get postions to take out the opposition. They did that for a time and then we started to take fire from our right and badly it was for us. After the two of them got out it was me and one other guy on the right. We decided the hell with it and we made a break to the rear and tried to get reenforcements. Well we got them and put up a brief fight on them till we got hit hard and they took us out.
Well after some folks got the good old over balling people. Well some people started to get really pissed off and leaving after that session. I was one of them to get the over ball, but I did not leave right away but left after realizing the time of the day and getting home for the kids.
And to explain the over balling that happene dto me and one of the guys with me at a bunker. Too be expected if behind a bunker people are going to throw massive amounts of paint at yea to keep you behind it. But after getting hit and putting the gun up in the air and yelling out. I kind of figured that out in the 2nd year of playing. I stood up and got nailed 18 more times, with the hadn up and gun in the air. I said some thing to the over ballers and told them they were ruining a good game for others at that point. The owner then came over to ask if I was okay and told him yes. he them went to the players that over balled and told them to hit the dead zone, as they were being penalized. Great !!
OH by the way Bulldog's B-5 was the talk of the event. Everyone of the people that walked by were asking "what is that?" If we could have charged a 1.00 for everytime we could have made money for BD.....
