Assume the Position

So at the meeting yesterday most people were buzzing about sponsorship, putting on an event, or team structure and direction. The thing that caught MY attention was the mention of practicing and playing positions.

My primary motivation for being on a team is to have a consistant group to play with on a regular basis. I like the idea of having designated postions so that we can quickly devide into units, bot for multi-unit maneuvers in a game and for scrimaging and practice.

To facilitate that, I think it would be helpfull if we all submit the following info. This will let unit leaders know where to place us and how to devide us. Feel free to add additional catagories you think would be usefull.

Name: (your name, duh)
Nick: (what you use on the field)
Position: (Whatever term you thing describes you- Heavy Gunner, Lt. Gunner, Md. Gunner, Point, Commander, Grenadier, Assault, Sniper, Expendible Sidekick...)
Primary: (Main weapon(s))
Secondary: (Back-up or alternative weapons - grenades, sidearms, launchers, harsh language)
BPS: Balls per Second- the amount you usually fire when you get on it.
BPD: Balls per Day - how much do you go through in a full event day?
Comments: (Fill in the blanks the above doesn't cover - "like to be up front; I like to run flags, I have a bum knee and so need to hang back and lay cover fire," etc.)
Bulldog

Name: Josh
Nick: Bulldog
Position: Suicide Squad
Primary: Tippmann A-5
Secondary: Sidearm (tba), Smoke, Paint Grenades
BPS: 3-round bursts
BPD: 1000 rounds.
Comments: I hate lobbing paint, and despise wasting time pouring paint across a clearing in hopes of a lucky hit. I tend to play aggressively, and 2/3 times I'll be one of the first out, but that 1/3 time is glorious. I'm a decent sprinter, and usualy stay out on the flanks so I can rush around behind the enemy when encountered. I live to spend 20 minutes crawling silently in the muck to out-snipe a sniper or pop up behind an unsuspecting squad. I would rather get hit 5 times than once.
Bingo

Name: Jerry
Nick: Walkingtall
Position: Heavy Gunner
Primary: Tippmann A-5
Secondary: Sidearm:Pt Extreme, Smoke Grenade, Paint grenades
BPS: Full Auto
BPD: Depends on the intesnity of game
Comments: I like to play in the back of the squad or team to help provide covering fire for the team. To old and slow to move sprint wise at times. Will rush a enemy if team is rushing the enemy. Like to see what is going on and help teammates move forward and communicate what is happening or who is where. Love to set up ambushes if possible on OPFOR with the team. Also love a coordinated team attack with teammates...that gets me pumped up....
Jeff Stallard

Name: Jeff Stallard
Nick: Mr. Stinky Bottom...or whatever others come up with
Position: medium gunner, sniper, ghost flanker
Primary: Tippmann A5
Secondary: my stinky britches
BPS: averages out to be ~3 BPS
BPD: ~1000
Comments: My LEAST favorite place to be is in the middle of the furball. I'd much rather pull guard duty, probe defenses, exploit flanks, gather intelligence, coordinate movement, etc. Some of my most memorable paintball experiences were times where I never fired a shot (or just a few).
Guest

Name: Ron Chapman

Nickname: Snooch

Position Anything up front because I like to move and sprint.

Primary: Smart Parts Ion

Secondary Weapon: Either Diablo Wrath or Imp(not sure yet)

BPS: 10-15

BPD: 1000-1500

Comments: I love to sprint forward and try to get a good position. This does mean I will be out fast sometimes as well but I'm not much for sitting around and waiting!!! I used to love sprinting to the 7's at the old Cannon Field and even made it from the top starting postition once!!(of course I never said I stopped, I kinda ran into them!!!!)

I would also vote to keep Jeff's nickname Mr. Stinky Bottom!!!
Guest

Name: Eric Knox SR
Nick:MrMeaner
Position:light gunner,sniper
Primary: tippmann a-5 with scepter launcher
Secondary: core zx for now
BPS: full auto
BPD: i sometimes use about 3000 balls
Comments: I like to play anywhere I'm needed. It does not matter if it's up front in the rear or the middle as long as it helps the team reach it's goal
Guest

First very good tobic Josh.

Name: Dave Hill
Nick: shockerdave or just - shocker
Position: light - med gunner - want to take the battle to them
Primary: e-orracle or 4x4 shocker
Secondary: most time non - grenades but forget to use them
BPS: 10-20 or as fast as I can pick them up of the ground
BPD: normal day is a case of paint (5 hours play longer use more)
Comments: Flanking is my love. Going up the middle if need to as long as I'm not asked to sit and wait for them. Holding a postion is better than waiting.
Raven

Name: Seth Oszust
Nick:OZ
Position:any thing to help the team
Primary: none as of right now. But Iam getting an A-5 after the new year Very Happy
Secondary: N/A want a overload pistol
BPS: N/A
BPD: 2500
Comments: I like to snipe if its needed or be in the front. Mainly I just looking for a good time.

To be a mighty force on and off the field and true sportsmen in both.
Bulldog

I've been playing paintball since October of 1987. Somebody get a calculator.
Jeff Stallard

Ok, so 1987 divided by the inverse quare of the tangential median, integrated from .68 to pi^3...

The answer is "a freakin' long time."
Guest

not that your old Shocked BUT some of the other team members aren't even that age yet.

will change your bio

this has not been sent in but want to do it this week

Your SON for example? Not that't YOU'RE old. Razz
Donkey Kong

Name: Chad Bigler

Nickname: Donkey Kong (DK to save on embroidery fee’s) or Chadrow

Position Front runner or crawling flanker/infiltrator

Primary: 68 Carbine / Autococker Trilogy

Secondary Weapon: Mean stare and foul language.

BPS: 5-10

BPD: 1000-1500

Comments: My favorite spot is out to the side, crawling through the bushes and catching the enemy standing around with their fingers in their barrels, or on the retreat from our front forces, and here I am to say HI! I also love to sprint forward and try to get a good position, but I HATE rushing in only to realize nobody else rushed! If I have to pull guard duty, you won’t notice me, I will be tucked in where I can get a shot at the unsuspecting flag capper and his buddies. One thing I think is worth mentioning, I believe communication is key to coordination, and that coordination makes for some killer game plays…. Nothing is better than being the 3 coordinated guys to take out 6 uncoordinated walk-on’s.

Ps1. I also vote to keep Jeff's nickname Mr. Stinky Bottom!

Ps2. I have only been playing for 4 years, not like that old man Josh!

Name: Michael
Nick: I used "MeanJoe" for this forum but I don't go by that anywhere.
Position: I'm kinda partial to the reverse cowgi.... ah.... not the position you meant is it? Alrighty, probably medium gunner whatever that means. I like to fight, pound people in their bunkers, move quickly and aggressively with heavy firepower.
Primary: My Precious... Mini-eOrracle
Secondary: Don't need one.
BPS: 10ish unless Jon gets me really excited and then it can be more.
BPD: 5 hours usually a case.
Comments: I like being in the action, out front playing aggressive. I get amped up being tucked in tight on a bunker and engaging 2 or more victim's in different positions. Taking out a position, advance aggressively to a new position, rinse and repeat!

I also like vanilla candles and bubble baths.
Bingo

Okay who said anything about putting your second hobby down.....bubble bath and vanilla candle...oh we are doomed as the team from dream land..LOL....

How embarrassed you'll be, when asked who shot you out, to have to respond with "Big Gay Al". Sure you want to tag that nickname on me? Haha!

Take deep breaths and calm down people, it was only a joke. The humor is derived from the juxposition of a series of statements involving terms such as "aggressive", "engaging 2 or more victims", etc. then closing with a contradictory image of bubble baths and candles.

Hmmmm... maybe if I have to explain the joke then it isn't so funny.

Besides, anyone who talks about bubble baths without mentioning a luffa is clearly making a joke....

Carry on.
Bulldog

I find that lufas chafe too much- I prefer the fluffy pastel body scubbers; they're DREAMY!
Jeff Stallard

Lufas make me feel pretty.

Oh, and yes, we all know you were joking. I employed the same technique when I said my nickname was Mr. Stinky Bottom.
Donkey Kong

Too late Mr. Stinky Bottom! There was a vote, and it was seconded, and who is this Jeff guy anyhow.... I just know a Mr. Stinky Bottom.

Now, saying this, I bet I will be the first one to have to say "Hey, I was shot out by Mr. Stinky Bottom!"

Yey, we will instill mortal fear in our enemies with a line up like 'Big Gay Al, Mr. Stinky Bottom, Shocker, Oz.....' wow!
Bingo

Okay so we will change the team name to Wizard of OZ paintball...lol..anyone for playing toto and tin man.....just kidding.....

I think we all know who is going to want to play Dorothy!!!! I bet she used to take bubble baths with vanilla candles back in Kansas!!!!

Damn, if that wasn't so funny I'd call you a "f-ing prick"....

Muhahahahaha!!!!!

A couple of things

First, MJS- never talk about me getting you excited again.

Second, I am bringing my own tent from now on.

Third, here is my info:

Name: Jon Baltes

Nick: Jon Wayne, Baldass, Pussy (you are what you eat!)

Position: Med Gunner, Chief of the Mess Hall

Primary: My cocky attitiude and foul mouth ("Who else wants some of this?!", "Come get some!", and "Surrender now and I will show you mercy!")

Secondary: VFT E- Cocker- now with Nexus

BPS: 15

BPD
: Dpeends- how recently was pay day? About 2000

Comments: I don't have a problem throwing some serious paint. Especially if it allows you flankers to get around un-noticed. I like to let things settle right after the break before I really get moving. Then I run the field like I was the mayor. I play patient and deliberate. I play the player, not the field. And I taught Mike everything he knows about the sport.
Guest

Ok, I figure I should actually post mine =)

Name: Joel. Ya'all can call me Joel, though
Nick: Cowboy, Pirate, Honkeytonk...those are what people call me
Position: Suicide Squad works for me
Primary: Dark Shocker, Phantom
Secondary: Harsh language and body spray (some of ya'all are smelly)
BPS: Shocker - 10-15 Phantom - 0-1
BPD: Shocker - 2+ Cases Phantom - 200rds, give or take
Comments: I'll play any and all positions. Give me my Phantom and I'll probly take the 50 real fast. Plus, I have no problems getting my stupid ass shot up as long as it's for the good of the team
Guest

After going though were every one said they like to play I have a list and it should work on the field pertty well.

heavy gunner - 1
med gunner - 4
light gunner - 8 ( Chad added in here )
sniper - 3
suicide squad - 2
Guest

If we need more Heavy Gunner positions, I can play that pretty well. I'm good at shooting lots and lots of paint and not hitting anything
Guest

Joel wrote:

Joel, you go from one extrm to the other. A case plus / Dark Shocker to less than a bag / Phantom.
Guest

What can I say, I'm cool like that Cool

Some days I feel like doing one thing, others I wanna do the other. My markers reflect that =)
Guest

Name: Vince
Nick: Vince (only can remember so much ya know)
Position: Med Gunner, Commander
Primary: Dragun AC
Secondary: most of the times left at camp
BPS: Balls per Second- Depends on where and at who
BPD: Balls per Day - 2000
Comments: "Best defense is a good offence" I like to take the battle to them not much on sitting and waiting.
Guest
