I dunno. Haven't been to GM for a while so wanted to see what they have. Is the paint at Red Dragon pretty good then? I have always taken my own when we've played there.

I don't remember that happening but you may be right, Zoo I have a call into Shockerdave to see about buying paint, in the past he has treated us well so will post up ASAP. OD

I just think it would be a good idea to contact RD and let him know how many cases our guys will be buying, so he brings enough in.

i picked up a case at a local store i know in Grove City called Frontline PB.
It's really small so i figured i would buy from the smaller business...plus i checked with CO Paintball off silverdrive and their prices were alot higher but higher grade.
I picked up Draxxus Blaze for 40$ plus i still have some extra paint lying around also.

Delta Squad was victorious at the Fall Bash.
Guys this was the first event that I though we played as a team the entire event comms worked well( with a couple of radio cliches that are fixed now) everybody played hard all day, some of our younger played are coming into there own and starting to gel with the rest of us. So great game everybody.
Game summery. Add as you see if.
This one want both ways until about 2:00pm when we made some bold moves to capture there base and hold it for 1 and half hours ( three of the flag station where on there side of the field so when we switched bases it gave us the upper hand). Final score Blue 650 Red 900. OD

Running specific missions, easy for DS. But conquest controlling the field....thats a tough one.
I also realized how many younger guys we had at this event compared to the past. It was interesting.
It was funny though, alot of times we got bored defending on flag with no contact, so we went for the action only to realize the blue was behind us and took over the flags once we left.

Controlling the field takes a lot of discipline, some times it hard to keep your eye on the big pic but that's what make good teams great. OD

i think we were outstanding on sunday. the presence of DS was everywhere on the field. any place i went i only managed to find more of our guys taking control of a situation. i always found DS guys grouping together trying to get things done. we were ominpresent and the blue felt it. im ready for the next one, but probably need a month to recover til the next one haha.

Yes you did, it help a lot to have 14 if the 35 player on the same team. I hope everything went as well as it could go for you.

DS played strong and was great to play along side of you guy's again! i learn somthing new from you guy's every time! Thanks again see ya at hatfeilds

It seams some of the other teams where shooting hot I will talk to Gary about this problem. Gary and I talked before the final battle and I brought up the problem with having three of the four flag station on one side of the field and the issue of having the back reinsert station so close together, we will see what happens. Not to stir up trouble, but as a player from the blue team, I do want to throw one tidbit of into in. The blue team had 8 players from a team named Status. At around 1:30, one of Status' co-captains blew up at another player on his team over a friendly fire incident. The situation kept escalating and the player was ejected for the day. But instead of one guy being out, the entire team of 8 left the game. The 8 guys who left were on base defense at the time the one was ejected and the others walked off.
Gary never releveled the teams until the final battle. So from about 1:30-4:30, blue team had an 8 guy deficit vs red team. That's about 25% of the team gone for 3 hours. Not saying it would have changed the final outcome, but who knows.
As is, the game was much closer than the score revealed, and when you throw in that blue was down around 25% of their team the whole afternoon, we did pretty well with a serious disadvantage.
|
olddog
|
I heard something to that affect, but was unsure if what happen, I did see them leave but I didn't think it was that early. I know a lot of the players on Status and have played with then in the past, they are hard changers and sometimes let the egos get the better of them.
Blue put up one neck of a fight all day, hats of to all how stayed till the last, the final battle went down to the last second so yes I agree with you analogize of the day, we had our hands full.
This is just a game and nobody like to lose, but we are all out here to have fun meet new friends and find new teammates.
Thanks for your input KYThrill we always like to hear from players on both sides of the field and hope to meet you at the next RD event and maybe play on the same side next time, keep up to date on our forum
Do you have a forum, website for you team group? Olddog

The team conferenced for awhile in the staging area. The gist of what I overheard is that the guy who was ejected wanted everyone to leave; basically the team sticks together and if one goes they all go. There was some arguement amongst them. Two of them left (the big boys with the Ghillie pants) and the rest stayed around for awhile to conference and then left too.
It's a shame a guy had to pop a gasket because of a stray paintball. This was actually my first game where I didn't get out at least once from friendly fire. It's just part of the game. And then to pressure everyone else on their team into leaving just seems wrong to me, considering their drive and the money they paid to play.
Oh well...
No team or forum for me. Just a old timer who started playing paintball in 1988 with a .50 cal Crossman 3357 and have came and gone from the game over the years. I hadn't played since I left Land of the Angry Skunks in 1998 and got back into the game last year when I learned Red Dragon was just an hour from my house. I try to make it out to the big event games there.
I just had to step in and defend the Blue Teams honor ...

Yep, flag bases weren't as well spread out as last years Fall Bash and I agree on the two back insertion points being too close. It just led to camping from both sides, made it impossible for Blue to keep their rear flank clear (shoot 4 guys flanking your base and they are right back again two minutes later, unless you camp the entry). When red took control after a rear flank, they camped the blue entry so we couldn't flank you right back. There is plenty of room for a red and blue entry in the middle. I did like that entires weren't shared, because that leads to the same problems.
I think a blue at the back and a red at the back. Leave the middle blue where it is at. And move the 2nd red entry down past it a little ways. There looked to be a good clearing with paths 150-200 feet past, with enough brush in between that reds and blues inserting in the middle couldn't shoot each other immediately.

I agree I talked to Gray before the final battle and made him aware of the problem with the flag placement and insertion points and I think it will be different next bash, .

One thing i didnt understand was why the blue team gave up and was never on the field the final few minutes before the final battle for the 150-175 points?
It was bacily like receiving free points right there as we sat around with only like maybe 2 people from the blue team going after the final flags. It's almost like we didnt work for it when we had no resistance too easy lol.

I know there was some confusion at different times of the day caused by the refs, so maybe something went on there. I was out of paint, air, and my hopper battery had went dead during the final 30 minutes befor the final battle, so that was why I was off field. I wouldn't be surprised if some refs had told some groups of blue's to start heading back to staging.
I know that towards the end of the day, when flag base 4 was worth 100 points, I was defending there. After we scored the points, the ref said that flag 4 was out and we were going to three flags. He took the flags and cone and walked off. I went down the main trail to the city and was passing blue players headed towards flag base 4. The first four went buy and I didn't think anything of it. Then three more went by and I stopped them and asked were they were going. They said to defend base 4, which I informed them had been shut down. They said a ref at the head of the trail had told them to go to base 4. That it was worth 75 points. So I went to the head of the path, and sure enough, a ref was directing blue players to a non-existent flag base. I told the ref there was no base there, that another ref had shut it down.
He got on the radio and they told him the same thing. No base 4 anymore. The ref had just got mixed up. I think it was 3 that was worth 75 points.
Then at the final battle, there was one blue barrel tagging people (barrel tagged 4-5 reds he claims) but the ref who was watching the final flag told the reds to stay in play and told the blue he could not barrel tag people. The player, ref, and Gary talked after the final battle and Gary backed the player. The ref admitted he hadn't been there for the rules briefing and didn't know barrel tags were allowed.
I do think this even had the best refing of the four events I attended, but there was still some miscommunication at times. Getting mixed up over flag bases is one thing. But there really isn't an excuse for a ref flat out not knowing the rules of the game (barrel tagging).

Normally I would be there, but I committed to play in a charity golf tournament the day before (Red Dragon changed the H&M date), so it all depends on how that all runs. I think my son is committing me to Chuck E Cheese after the tournament, with or without my consent.
I plan on having my gear ready and guns tuned, but I really won't know until the morning of.

I don't think I've ever played a game where barrel tagging wasn't allowed- why would he assume that? Someone needs to rest their barrel against some soft part of his body and pull the trigger, and see which he prefers.

After this happined, which i never knew about, I went ahead when i ran out of paint, the blue team rushed the flag so i went kamakazi and took AT LEAST 6 players out because they were all rushing the flag at the same time.
I had barrel in hand and one of the blue players claimed i had to have a full marker....I went up to a ref and he looked clueless....
So it happined on both sides...sucks but i guess it was fair since it was both sides...

Well, tagging with JUST a barrel is a special Viper thing, so I could see that one being questioned if it wasn't laid out in the rules before-hand.

It was by Gary, but yeah i didnt think about that which was why i really didnt put to much of a fight trying to argue in the middle of a huge final battle....just respawned and tried barrel tagging with my full marker lol.
