milsim autocockerSo here is the deal. I was so impressed w/ my autococker at Dredd I am selling the A5 and getting an Autococker Tactical SF. I want to make it look like a thompson submachine gun. so my question is does anyone have a table saw. I want to cut the parts out from actual hardwood and stain it then seal it up with weather proofing. I was also wondering if anyone knows where to get a spare shroud for the autococker that I can cut up if need be?

So you're so happy with the performance and reliability of your cocker, that you want to sell it and buy a more complicated one?
Depending on how my first mag-fed cocker turns out, I may be up for buying it.

errrg. Sorry, just now starting my first cup of coffee- but he does say he's getting a Tactical SF, which is the e-cocker version of the Trilogy, iirc- so you should be helping me haze him.

P.S. I have a table saw, miter saw, jig saw, and drill press. I don't have a bandsaw yet (which you'll want for the grip) but I could use an excuse to buy one.

attaching a stock looks a little difficult what barrel would you use
|
theJUDGE

the stock would actually have a beavertail built in and attach where the beavertail attaches now. The barrel I would just use my J&J since I would rather have performance than full blowns looks. That being said I am trying to decide if I want to use wood. Any other material suggestions?

Here's a real walnut stock on eBay for $10.
A hackable toy.
An airsoft mag.
They also have full airsoft Tommies for about $140 and up.
I would just make a stock out of some 2x6 pine and stain it to match.

should i use a harder wood than pine?

| theJUDGE wrote: | | should i use a harder wood than pine? | Why, you planning to butt-stroke a Hunn with it? You can use any wood you like (the originals were walnut) but I thought you were looking to do it on the cheap.

I am but I want it to be very durable too... I am looking for midgrade basically. I have also been looking at some airsoft ones but those are mostly hollow platic and I want it to be solid so if i find one that is solid I may buy it up.

that is but the thompson is down for now until I go full time again and get some extra cash. Maybe when I graduate I can use the money. I will be buying a real thompson stock to save trouble and I will attach it with a a heavy duty beavertail I found online. Then use a mag from an airsoft gun, then make the front grip a wooden vertical grip that attaches to the tac rails. I may make is all black though and make it look a lil more modern. I dunno.
