Predator Zone: NORMANDY BEACH INVASION 4/21/07This is the place in Richmond, IN, that had the Operation: Dog Patch scenario last spring. Small field, but a nice bunch of guys, and scenario teams came in from all over. Also, it's one of the few places that will let you BYOP. They also let people camp in the parking area.

NORMANDY BEACH INVASION
OPERATION OVERLORD 1944
On 6 June 1944 the Western Allies landed in northern France, opening the long awaited "Second Front" against Adolf Hitler's Germany. Though they had been fighting in mainland Italy for some nine months, the Normandy invasion was in a strategically more important region, setting the stage to drive the Germans from France and ultimately destroy the National Socialist regime.
Schemes for a return to France, long in preparation, were now feasible. Detailed operation plans were in hand. Troops were well-trained, vast numbers of ships accumulated, and local German forces battered from the air. Clever deceptions had confused the enemy about just when, and especially where, the blow would fall.
Commanded by U.S. Army General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Normandy assault phase, code-named "Neptune" (the entire operation was "Overlord"), was launched when weather reports predicted satisfactory conditions on 6 June.
Hundreds of amphibious ships and craft, supported by combatant warships, crossed the English Channel behind dozens of minesweepers. They arrived off the beaches before dawn. Three divisions of paratroopers (two American, one British) had already been dropped inland. Following a brief bombardment by ships' guns, Soldiers of six divisions (three American, two British and one Canadian) stormed ashore in five main landing areas, named "Utah", "Omaha", "Gold", "Juno" and "Sword".
After hard fighting, especially on "Omaha" Beach, by day's end a foothold was well established. As German counterattacks were thwarted, by late July reinforcements and constant combat, made possible a break out from the Normany perimeter. With the Soviets advancing from the east, Hitler's armies were shoved, sometimes haltingly and always bloodily, back toward their homeland. The Second World War had entered its climactic phase.
OMAHA BEACH
D-Day-6 June, 1944
The actual landing beaches occupied a fraction of the width of each area, but were intended to provide sufficient initial footholds to allow rapid reinforcement and expansion inland, with the attacking soldiers joining their flanks to create a continuous beachhead perimeter before the enemy could mount a major counterattack. Each area would be assaulted by approximately one army division, with initial landings being made by much smaller units at 6:30AM in the American areas and about an hour later in the British. Their arrival on the shore was to follow a bombardment by ships' guns and aircraft ordinance, kept relatively brief to maintain as much as possible of the element of surprise. As a result, German shore defenses frequently remained intact, and would prove troublesome to both the landing forces and ships offshore.
Welcome to the "Omaha" area where deep beaches backed by steep hills meant that the U.S. troops landing there were exposed to withering fire from eneny small arms, machine guns and artillery. Casualties were very heavy and the assault only succeeded after a day of brutal fighting, with warships coming in close to provide direct gunfire in support of the hard-pressed soldiers. By nightfall on the sixth of June, the situation was favorable, even on "Omaha".
3rd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division
Exit LCVP landing craft (announcers voice: The Predator Zone does not actually have landing crafts, battleships, machine guns or artillery... Hell, we don't even have a beach....) and advance toward enemy strong points across the beach front using your engineer and demolition units to open pathways for infantry and heavy equipment. Engineer and demo units must dismantle German barriers and build defensive walls to be able to reach strong points to destroy (using grenades).
We know the Germans are heavily fortified in the strong point areas, so heavy casualties are expected.
Engineer Units: Will be supplied with tools to build bridges, walls, netting--anything for cover. They also can blow up German strong points if equipment is able to reach the beach head. Equipment will be limited so use effectively.
Demolition Units: Will have the ability to dismantle or destroy German obstacles and equipment but cannot rebuild defensive cover. They will be able to advance equipment and supplies for the engineers and provide fire and smoke cover.
Paratroopers: If weather permits troopers will be able to land anywhere on playing field. There will be a limited number of drops. In the real battle paratroopers were scattered out so be prepared to be able to survive on limited help.
Paratrooper Mission: Drop behind German lines, find and destroy ammo and fuel deposits. Locate German strong points and mortar pits.
Infantry: Exit landing crafts and advance toward German lines. You will need to keep your Engineer and Demolition Units alive to be able to advance. Use your limited cover and your fire power effectively. You will be able to use anything that your engineers build for you. You can also move anything that demolition units take down. Only engineer and demolition units can use tools supplied for those units. Advance and take all strong points and any objectives listed per mission.
Germans
We know the Allies will soon be landing but we are not sure where. Be prepared to meet large numbers of Allies advancing on the beach heads. Strong fortifications and heavy fire power should slow the advance until reinforcements can be brought up. Hold the beaches as long as possible and try to eliminate their engineer and demolition units.
The above information is just the beginning...Additional missions will be assigned on D-Day.

That's intentional- reply when you're SURE. Coordinating an outing based on maybes is a recipe for Bulldog getting Bulldog on someone's ass.

When loading up for this one, keep in mind that the field is pretty small and the parking lot runs all along it, so you won't need big water bladders, spare tanks, or a billion rounds of paint every time you take the field.

Ok looks like even if i had work off this week, i wouldnt have the money nor the time since i have a basketball tournament for my school. Plus my sisters birthday is on 4/20 woot. So yeah somtimes skipping 5 things for paintball just isnt the best, alot less complicating if i skip lol.
Have fun guys, It adds up to 7-8 on the poll becuase i thought i would be able to make it.

got the message and if I do go will call this morning to get a hotel room for JBird and I. I am in the air still on this one.
I have not gotten some issues settled with the son yet as mentioned before.
Hopefully will and can come on out. Worse case scenario I could just leave around 6 am and headover there. It is about a 2 hr drive with the radar detector on that is. It would put me there at 8 am if that is the time frame. Hopefully get to go as I want to see that freaking b-5....
