Our domain has expired at this point fellas. I am not able to get it and some of you may not be able to either.
The guy that had it for us was a member a long time ago before any of you current members came on. He did not want to renew and it expired on the 7th. But if course he did not contact me till the 8th to tell me and then it was to late to transfer over to me to renew.
Josh and I are working something out to possibly get onw threw a friend of his or a company he has done hosting through. The only thing is that we may all have to pitch in to cover the sot of the domain to be hosted there. I will let all of you know as soon as I get info or Josh will let you know.

It looks like it would be $10 to transfer & renew the domain name, plus $10/month ($8.33 a month if you pay a year out) for their base-model package.
500MB Storage
5 MySQL Databases
25 Sub-domains
Cpanel User Control Interface
10 Email Accounts
20 Email Aliases
Daily Backup Downloads
Raw and Graphical Log Analysis
Monthly Webstats Report
With that we could migrate our forum to our own site (no more google ads or other restrictions) and editing and maintenance would be simplified. We might even be able to get a vendor to pay for some add space. _________________ "videor levis, forsitan usus pauci telum" |

That sounds great to me...... can we just keep it on phpBB or will we have to change it when we move it? _________________ The one with the most gear WINS. |

We can do it either way.
The question then becomes, how do we pay for it? $10/month isn't a lot, but it's not free, so we have to come up with a renewable source of funds for it.
If we maintain an active roster of 12 or more guys, and charge $20 to join and $10 each additional year, that would take care of it, with maybe a little left over.
That necessitates tracking anniversary dates for team members so we know when their dues are due. It also requires keeping books on the dues and expenditures.
In short, we need a Treasurer- or at least a financier who fronts the money for things like the website, collects more than is needed, and keeps the leftovers for himself- institutionalized embezzlement. The former would be ideal, the latter might be the only way to get someone to do the job. _________________ "videor levis, forsitan usus pauci telum" |

My 2 cents
We have a date of dues that would need to be paid at the beginning of the year. Jan 1 or some date in Jan. that would be due for all members.
Treasurer would need to someone that has been on the team for some time now and we know them (Character issue i guess) and that is not a knock on anyone at all.
They would need to keep a record of the payments of who paid and what expenses as Bulldog put it for the team. Eventuall we could just have this person do the registration for the team also. We would just have a cut off date to get the money to them to send in and if you pass that date y ou register yourself. Just an idea ......
I have more for this if we need it from my reenacting days as we had the treasure and how they did it and I had the position at one time.....
Just my 2 cents _________________ If you find a tree big enough to get behind, push your teammate out from behind it.

Just before I got to Bingo's post, I was thinking the same thing.
To simplify things; I would just have a single "date" at some point of the year.
That way, EVERYONE knows that it's due on Happy Hangover Day...
Whatever you guys decide, I'm up for. Just as long as I become a member. _________________

So if the date is January 1, and somebody signs up and pays $20 in December, then they get to pay $10 more in January? _________________ "videor levis, forsitan usus pauci telum" |

Yes...
Well, if the $20 is to cover part of the domain; then I would say No...
Let it slide... Perhaps even let November slide... Anything before that; it would need explained that "Our annual fee is due in the amount of $10 on January 1st"....
Or, they can always hold off on membership until January...
I dont think I'd want the task of having to keep track of who owes what and when for 12+ members. Even if I did get to keep the leftovers...
12members x $10= $120
$8.33 x 12mo= $99.96
Payment for job= $20.04
I suppose volunteers could handle it... And we could use the "left overs" to help someone scrape the money for an event or something like that.
OR, even though it's a small amount; Perhaps give the team a good name (look great on resume for sponsorship) and donate left over to a charity of some sort.
Just some ideas. _________________

Okay I believe we are screwed in getting our domain back from the guy that got it for us in the first place. After many emails and trying to get him to send the account transfered to my account on the godaddy sit it has failed.
So our name is out there with the .net and I can try to get it through what they call backorder through the godaddy site. My question is if I do this we need to come up with the idea that bulldog had on fees to keep this up and running for us. I will get the backorder if the .net is still available and some porn site has not gotten it on the backorder before me.
Let me know guys _________________ If you find a tree big enough to get behind, push your teammate out from behind it.

The phone number on the account it in the same area as GoDaddy, so it is probably one of their divisions. The domain will not be released to new registrants until 30-40 days after it expires.
If you or Nic would give me the damn account number and PIN I could have this taken care of 2 weeks ago. _________________ "videor levis, forsitan usus pauci telum" |
