I am looking at a ne J&J Barrel for my A-5 but I am unsure of what length. My friend is willing to sell me his 16" and if he has a 14" I may look at it too. I am just worried 16" is too long. I am a mobile person when I need to be and I dont want something too ackward.

Here is my opinion... And it is just that...
Go w/ a 14" barrel... You're not going to get much more (if any) accuracy out of a longer barrel. If anything; they may slow your ball down due to friction. In the world of REAL fireams, a longer barrel IS helpful.
But, real barrels are rifled, so the longer the round is kept spinning, the tighter it will remain on target...
Paintball barrels (for the most part) are smooth. There is one barrel (can't remember brand) that brags about their "rifled barrels"... It's a straight rifling. That does nothing except reduce friction on the ball. That may mean slightly more accurate and faster speeds. (speed doesn't matter thanks to chrono's! lol)
If you're wanting accuracy; go w/ a flatline barrel. Being a woodsball player; it's great because you dont have to arch your shots up into the branches. But, there is a price for that. Ball slows down a lil bit at a distance and you have to use "dry balls" (more expensive).
It's a toss up bro... But, I'd stick w/ a shorter barrel. I personally have a 16" barrel and like it. But it's going to get replaced w/ a flatline... _________________

Like Madbomber said flatlines are nice for distance and there is a price to pay with it though using better paint, and alot more to adjust to a flatline theres also Apex and stuff,
but me ill just stick to the good old 12 or 14 inch barrels. _________________

thanks for the input. As the flatline goes I will say its a grat barrel but its not as good w/ auto goin. balls break easier in it and a good straight barrel is the best for that I have found. Thats why i am looking at the J&J. _________________ Stay low, run fast, and hope that paintball doesnt hit your ...

personally i think a monstrous huge freakin barrel would be cool, solely for the intimidation factor. i mean big things tend to scare ppl, big gun, big barrel, big guy. but to find a good one, i have yet to do so.
actually judson im gonna get me a 14' J&J comin here soon, so go for that. _________________

I havent decided for sure. The guy I am buying it off of is gonna let me see it on my gun and shoot a few through it and if I think its too long I will just buy a 14 from somewhere else. _________________ Stay low, run fast, and hope that paintball doesnt hit your ...

J&J is one of our sponsors, so when or if you would like to make the team, then you will be granted the rights to the sponsorship info we have. So if you want to wait then you can check on the barrels and see if you like them and then hopefully order one.
Just a suggestion..... _________________ If you find a tree big enough to get behind, push your teammate out from behind it.

Get a GOOD shorter barrel (12 - 14") for game time...
Buy a cheap 21" barrel for local game play against noobs... You'll have them shittin' themselves! lol _________________

I added the sizes I use to the poll.
I think 10" is a good length- enough barrel to be accurate, enough porting to be quiet, and not so long that it gets in the way. _________________ "videor levis, forsitan usus pauci telum" |
